4/30/2018 Week 26: Getting Shredded One Hill At A Time

Hey everyone this week went pretty well. Obviously last weeks email was a little hectic but this weeks email will be a little better because I am not being rushed by others to finish.
Anyways Tuesday we gave the car to the Elwood Elders and we didn't have it for this week. So that means this week we would bike.. and bike.. and bike and so on. I had trouble for the first part of it because I haven't ridden a bike like that for 4 years if not ever. I can walk all day and driving is not a problem. But it's been getting easier. It definitely feels weird especially since I am using a women's bike. Awkward. And I know what your thinking. Why don't you just buy a new bike and scrap the old one. I don't really have much of a choice to use it because it's a mission owned bike and where my area is located they put down mission owned bikes for us to use and if you are in my area or surrounding areas and have your own personal bike, then you have to put it in the storage. But wo is me for this free bike that works. But otherwise every thing else is fine. Some things in the mission are confusing because of thing that are going on but I will spare you all the details as I haven't already been doing.
OK I am doing to try to get off the subject of bikes even though bikes are not meant for this area. So Wednesday was interesting I guess we helped someone move a bunch of stuff into a storage container. And then went on to try and contact people. I realize that I am doing this but that day I re-taught myself how to ride a bike with no hands again so thats fun.
Then Thursday we had weekly planning which took up most of the morning. Then we had a lesson with the investigator with a baptismal date. We shared the Word of Wisdom. It's interesting because he likes when we visit him for us to hang out in his barn while we teach and from that he jokingly has created what we now call the barn rules. It's basically a coin toss to see which missionary says the pray. It's nothing super special but he loves it. He is a funny guy.
Friday we started by doing service at a sort of food pantry cafeteria place where we serve food to a bunch of people for free. Then we had lunch with a person we call grandpa Tim who is a person from my companions first area who really likes the missionaries even though he is not a member or even interested in becoming one as far as right now. So we had lunch and caught up with him and stuff then we went to an investigators house who has been investigating for years and helped her with her garden, just tilling and planting.
Saturday we helped with another move. I am getting really good at moving people, not that I already wasn't good at it. But we helped a new family in the ward move for 2 hours then came home, and went to dinner with a member. Then last thing on Saturday we had sports night where the missionaries and whoever else wants to come and we hangout and play sports or do something recreational, my first week we where the only ones who came but this last Saturday we had a pretty good turn out. We play jail break where you have a volley ball net and a ball obviously and the objective is to get everyone on the other team out. To get them out you have to call there name and throw the ball over the net. If any one catches it then the person whose name is called is safe, but if nobody catches it then the person whose name is called is out. And when there is one person left on a team they can call jail break and if the ball is missed then everyone on the team comes back. The last few games me and my companion decided that it would be fun if it were the 2 Elders against everyone else. It was. We did win, once.
Last was Sunday. We had church of course but afterwards we had a linger longer, or a pot luck. That was a fun experience. It was funny because our investigator came up to me with a plate full of food and jokingly asked me if it was against the Word of Wisdom. Then after that was just a normal day of contacting people.

Hope you all have a good week, If there are any questions, I guess I would be completely willing to answer. But if not I hope you have a great day. Bye

4/24/2018 Week 25: I Am Hoping That When They Say Midget Here They Actually Mean child

You got to see the picture below to understand what I am talking about.

Hello everyone, how are you?
I am good. Having a blast here in Marion. I love this area. Its large and new and old and interesting. We have a car every other week. Then other than that we bike. Living conditions are good, We actually live in a house with a basement and an attic. Its old so there are a couple weird things. The floor is wavey and bowed from it being an old house. Also it has a garage. We don't use it though. The only problem is that there is a mysterious rodent in the wall. It is either a squirrel, opossum, or a raccoon. We had an exterminator come yesterday while we were at our big meeting. Our address is 818 E Charles St. Marion, Indiana 46952. You can look it up and see the outside I guess. I have had a pretty good week this week. It started with me packing all day long on Monday after my email. Also, sorry my email is a day late. The reason why I couldn't email yesterday was because we had a mission tour. Which is we had a general authority come to our mission. We had Elder Pingree come (I got to shake his hand). Good time. We were very busy yesterday and so our p-day is today. So we had transfers on Tuesday and I had packed my bags to as much as they could carry. They were very heavy. Tuesday was mainly just a lot of driving for Kentucky to Centerville, Ohio, Then from Centerville to Marion. It took forever. And I was so tired. So eventually we get to Marion and I am starving at this point and I look around and there wasn't much food so I had to ration somewhat for the week. Thankfully we had meals everyday this week so I didn't go hungry. But we were always doing something so I wasn't always focused on eating. Wednesday we had district meeting and we got the car for a week. Then the next few days we had a variety of different service opportunities and lesson appointments to fulfill. We have 3 new investigators and 1 person on date to be baptized in the coming months. It should be a lot easier for people to get to the church here because the building isn't to far and from what I have seen the majority of the people here have cars so that should be a problem. We just need to keep finding. I felt good having a bunch of lessons this week. And the lessons have all been going great and we are able to share everything we have planned in the lesson where as my last area we didn't have very many lessons and if we did they weren't that great. This week was a great refresher. Unfortunately I have to get going soon. Talk to yall later. Bye

4/16/2018 Week 24: I'm Going To Marion, Indiana!

That's right living the high life now. I am not there yet I go tomorrow. This week was pretty good I guess. I need to start packing today and stuff. My new companion is Elder Moncrief. I am excited to see him.
I forgot to take my medicine today so I am really struggling to focus on one thing at a time. So my new area is up in-between Elwood and Peru Indiana. I will try to send out a picture. We helped out with a move and something I have noticed is that the stairs are very steep in some houses and difficult to move a couch up. But it was worth the 100oz diet coke I got after. Picture below. Also yesterday we had another Falmouth sacrament meeting. We couldn't do it at the same place as last time. So we had it at a members home. It was fun. I definitely enjoyed going. Honestly not to sound bad or anything but I am excited to leave this ward. Nothing wrong about the people. I am just tried of the same places. My new area thankfully is a lot larger I hope. Also my current companion has got me hooked on hot pockets. They are so good. Nothing else really happened other than meeting another crazy guy. This guy is not in my area thankfully but we met him on exchanges. This guy was SUPER alt-right to the point where hey thought Hitler did nothing wrong. Insane guy. He literally blame the jews for everything bad. We were stuck talking with him for an hour. He gave us things to go home and study. It was bad to be there then a few minutes after leaving we were offered a job by some other guy. $15 for 2 hours heck no. First of all that is not enough and second of all we are not allowed to get money when we serve. Not even a donation to the church. Because we are honest people.👍. Good guys. Also it got pretty hot this week. It got up to 80 degrees and now it is 30. Kentucky weather. I don't really have a lot more to say other than good luck to everyone. I will just send a bunch of pictures. Thats all I have. Talk to yall next week!!!

4/9/2018 Week 23: It's Been A Minute...

So I had a pretty good week I can say. It started of with finishing my email last week and as soon as I got back I got a bunch of packages.  I enjoyed it since the mail man came to the door with his bag filled with 2 giant eggs. He looked so annoyed by how they completely filled the bag. I got some cards as well. Thanks to everyone who sent letters. It was a pretty interesting week I admit. The weather has been super crazy but not as crazy as one person I met on Tuesday. This guy just from looking at him you know he has been punched in the face one too many times. He motioned us to come over to him and we had no choice because he was in our way. He started to talk to us and you knew instantly that he had some issues. He started telling us the the catholic preacher of a church said that he wasn't allowed to go to Heaven unless he gets baptized catholic and the "Mother Mary" wouldn't let him in because he was Baptist. He was just freaking out and when we tried to leave he started to follow us and say that he was the Grim, the arch angel, the dark night himself and was telling us that he would cast us to hell if we didn't and I quote, "I will drag you to hell if you don't go home and love your wife". Wise words from a strange man. It was weird. Then on Wednesday we went on exchanges with the assistants to the president (AP's) so I went to their area and became an assistant for the day. I had a blast but I kind feel bad for them because they basically have only had 6 hours of proselyting in the last six weeks. But it kinda got washed away when I got to ride in their new 2018 truck😂. It was interesting though to see how everything worked on the office side of the mission. I definitely learned a lot. Then Thursday was my birthday and we had a Church tour with our most progressing investigator and it turned out that he has been to the church building twice before. It was great, you could really feel the spirit and he when to his normal joking self to a more serious mood. You could see it all make sense to him. Also I got a call from President and Sister Welch and they sang happy birthday. I wish I recorded it. Then Friday we went and did service at the place we usually go and ever since we started they have needed less things done for them so we end up just organizing the pantry for easier access and convenience. Then Saturday I got a little sick and had a stomach bug for the whole day. It was bad because I persisted to keep working even with it and that just made me feel even worse. Then Sunday I was feeling a lot better and had Church and everything. And I met another crazy person yesterday who thought she was Queen Elizabeth. She kept talking how she was the queen and that she owns London and New York. And how she is like Jesus because she saves people. Crazy. Something about the occasional warm weather keeps bringing the crazies out. They keep trying to talk to us and it's kinda annoying. Today I got a new bed even though I am leaving in a week probably. The mattress I had for the past 6 months had old pee stains from a previous missionary. Who does something like that and doesn't tell the mission office. This is possibly my last full week in this area and I am both ready to go but kinda want to stay. I'm tired of walking down the same old roads day after day but I have fun teaching lessons to our investigators and meeting with them and answering there questions and talking to the ward members. It is weird because I feel like I got here 3 days ago. But I will deal with it. Last thing, transfers are the beginning of next week so if you have anything to send me send them next now or in 2 weeks when I get the new address. This is all for this week I guess. Take to yall next week. Bye!

4/2/2018 Week 22: Jag slÄr vad om att du tittar upp vad det betyder...

Good luck understanding that one. Hello once more everyone. How are you. Good to hear. I am doing great. The weather is weird but that is just Kentucky. It snowed a little last night even though it was around 60 degrees. Easter was good. Completely forgot it was yesterday. I was kinda busy. We had Zone conference. That was a fun experience. It is good to have a little Conference every transfer I think. I enjoy the training that they have with us because you are always able to learn something new that you are able to improve on. Then we had exchange and for the second time in 4 transfers I was able to go somewhere else and not lead the area for a day. The only problem is we went to a fast food place that was notorious for being disgusting and basically poisoning to go to called White Castle. Why did you go, you might ask? Well it was against my will because my companion for the day had made it a goal to go to each place his companion hates while on exchanges to try it. I wanted to go to McDonald's because in comparison it is thought of a 5 star restaurant. But the companion insisted and so I went unhappy. It's worse then it had the reputation of. We ate everything and instantly needed to throw up when we walked out the door. I have been punished for my sins. I felt like Alma the younger when we got back to the room. I was on the ground racked with pain so agonizing that I couldn't move. I might be over exaggerating a little bit. Never trust a fast food place that sells sea food. Its bad. Trust me. Then later that night while I was still feeling sick we ushered at a Walk with Christ which was held by the YSA missionaries and it was basically being toured through the life of Christ. I mainly was over the television in the first part. I had to sit there and press play whenever it ended. At least I did until I found out how to put the video on repeat and just left and ate food. Good times. Then we had General Conference yesterday and the day before. The first session we spent at a family in our ward. The Adams' family basically made it a mock super bowl party but for General Conference. There were wings, drinks, candy, etc. It was fun. Then we went to the ward mission leaders house to watch the afternoon session, eat dinner, and celebrate my birthday early because they were going to be busy this week. Then we went to the church building for Priesthood. Came home around 10:15 and just went to bed. The next morning we went to another familys and watched general conference and have dinner there to. It was fun. The rest of conference was at church which I needed because you feel the much stronger there. Also all the rumors about how they don't have all the Apostles there is wrong they all are always there and the speak each year. You probably just didn't see them all because Priesthood and Women's session every year would take up there talks. Anyways that is were I am now just sitting at a computer typing out this email and trying to figure out a good way to end it this week as well as what the subject line should be. I usually think of something kinda funny in the week and forget about it by the time I get here. I should just start writing them down. Anyways I hope you all have a great week, I will talk to you later.

Ha en bra vecka! Lycka till!
